In 1987 I picked up my first 35 mm camera and opened the doors to a new way of expressing my artistic vision. I started in a high school photography class and rapidly became fascinated with the medium. Days of shooting a wide variety of subjects in a multitude of environments followed by hours in the darkroom kept me busy and taught me that my efforts would prove satisfying. I brought many cherished images out of that class that still reside on walls today.
Onward from high school I headed for a fine arts degree. Amidst my illustration and graphic design courses, I added photography classes into the mix to keep myself on track in that genre. Once graduated, I persued a career in graphic arts but kept my photography skills honed while learning how to work with digital enhancement programs and equipment. My darkroom had turned virtual and it was exciting.
The digital age has opened many more doors to creative outlet for me. While I still retain my traditional photography experience which I can use while shooting my subjects, technology has allowed me to take images to a level not easily done in darkroom situations.
I still have my old circa 1970's Canon at hand. Just in case. You just never know...
